Chris Ostrom
Founder ยท LAS FieldMech
LAS FieldMech grew out of real HVAC service callsโwhere identifying an airflow problem is often easier than explaining it clearly to the homeowner.
The goal is straightforward: give working technicians a practical way to organize field findings, document professional judgment, and present a report customers can understand.
Built in the field. Designed for the people who work in it.
During development, founder Chris Ostrom compared his field calculations with an independent Manual J calculation completed by a customer who is an engineer. In that comparison, the results matched exactly.
This is one real-world comparison, not a claim that every assessment will match a formal engineering calculation. LAS FieldMech is designed to make dependable field guidance faster and easier to communicate.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS.
From field assessments and reports to company licensing and launch plans, hereโs what you should know about LAS FieldMech.
What is LAS FieldMech?
LAS FieldMech is a field assessment tool built for HVAC technicians. It helps organize heating, cooling, and ductwork observations into a clear, customer-ready report.
Who is LAS FieldMech designed for?
Individual service technicians, comfort advisors, service managers, and HVAC companies that want a consistent way to explain findings during customer visits.
How long does an assessment take?
LAS FieldMech is designed to turn a time-consuming process into a practical field assessment in approximately 5โ10 minutes, depending on the home and number of rooms. Straightforward inputs help technicians quickly evaluate comfort needs and communicate clear results.
How does LAS FieldMech compare to Manual J and Manual D?
Our goal is to get as close to accurate as practical without requiring technicians to work through complicated engineering calculations. LAS FieldMech brings heating and cooling requirements, airflow, and ductwork evaluation into one fast, easy-to-use field assessment. It helps technicians make informed recommendations and gives homeowners a clear picture of their comfort challenges. Formal Manual J or Manual D calculations may still be required for certain designs, permits, or code-compliance purposes.
How are local climate conditions considered?
The planned assessment uses location-specific climate and elevation inputs to inform estimates. Final data coverage and methodology will be confirmed before release.
What does the customer receive?
A clear, shareable PDF assessment showing key heating, cooling, and airflow findings. The report is designed to help customers understand the technicianโs recommendations.
Can our company use its own branding?
Yes. The planned Company subscription includes your company branding on assessment reports. Individual Tech Pro reports use LAS FieldMech branding.
How much does LAS FieldMech cost?
Planned pricing is $4.99 per month for Tech Pro or $99 per month for a Company plan covering up to 10 technicians. Additional groups of 10 company seats are planned at $99 per month per group.
Can a technician use the same license on multiple devices?
The planned licensing model assigns each technician seat to one active device at a time. Device-transfer procedures will be provided at launch.
Will it work without internet access?
No. LAS FieldMech requires an active internet connection for security purposes.
Are customer assessments stored in the app?
The planned workflow generates a PDF for viewing, saving, or sharing. Assessment inputs are intended to clear when the assessment is closed, rather than being retained as an in-app job history. Final privacy details will be published before launch.
Can I subscribe or download the app today?
Not yet. LAS FieldMech is preparing for launch. Subscriptions and download links will be added when the product is available.
How can I ask a question about company licensing or support?
Use the Contact page or email [email protected]. This is the only public contact address listed on the website.
Our team is happy to help with product questions, licensing, and support.
